Our last production was CURTAIN CALL - "a Riotous Comedy" by Bettine Manktelow presented at THE ASTOR COMMUNITY THEATRE, STANHOPE ROAD, DEAL in April 2010 to great success.
Synopsis follows:
CURTAIN CALL takes place in the office of a provincial theatre, where Alec, the theatre manager, is grappling with diverse problems with his recalcitrant staff, a temperamental lady director, an important visit from an Arts Council representative, and the bullying Chairman of the theatre trust. The amiable Alec, in an effort to keep everybody happy, becomes more embroiled in problems as the day goes on. A strike by the backstage crew is threatened, the theatre faces closure and everybody is blaming Alec until he receives help from an unexpected source and manages to save the day and the theatre.
This play was published by Samuel French in 1999 after a first performance in Deal at the Kilshawe Theatre under the title STAGE STRUCK.
